The Australian airline Qantas confirmed that personal data of more than five million passengers has ended up on the dark web after a cyberattack aimed at one of its external suppliers. The leaked data ranges from names and emails to frequent flyer numbers, raising the risk of targeted fraud and social engineering attacks. Qantas and Australian authorities reinforce incident response protocols and policies.
The fashion chain Mango warned of a leak that compromised personal data managed by an external provider for marketing. No bank details or passwords have been affected, but the company reinforces protocols and asks for maximum caution in the face of possible waves of phishing aimed at the stolen database. The case reopens the debate about the critical importance of the digital supply chain.
Thousands of citizens are once again receiving SMS messages and emails that impersonate the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT), reporting false fines or bringing presumed urgent files. The DGT recalls that it never sends payment notifications through these channels and warns about the risk of fraudulent websites and links aimed at the theft of banking and personal information.
The Clop group has attributed a cyberattack to Harvard University, publishing part of the stolen data as pressure to pay a ransom. Other universities, institutions and companies have also experienced ransomware attacks with public exposure, highlighting the importance of protection, monitoring and up-to-date backups.
The President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has announced the creation of a new National Cybersecurity Center, directly under the Presidency, following a wave of attacks and incidents suffered by public administrations, companies and political leaders. The objective is to strengthen national coordination, accelerate responses, protect critical infrastructures and strengthen digital defense at the country level.
